Despicable Me - Minion party

For my youngest child's birthday, he decided he would like a Despicable Me party.

To make the cake I used a chocolate fudge cake recipe, because of the weight and height, it meant it wouldn't sink as much.

I baked 3 6" round cakes and used a pyrex dish with a 6" diameter rim, then stacked them.

I found the easiest way to fondant ice them was to do it in 2 parts, the curved head first and then around the body. I used the minions goggle band to cover the seam.

Christmas Cakes 2013

Well sorry for the delay, but these are this year, or should I say last years! Christmas cakes! I decided to go for a Nordic theme and used Delia's celebration fruit cake recipe.

Wrapped in cellophane with a Nordic style tag and they make a lovely gift!

Chanel handbag / purse birthday cake

I didn't get to spend Christmas with my friend, due to her visiting her son in Australia, for Christmas and New year. She came back just in time for her birthday, so I just had to make her a cake! The one thing about Tracey is that she loves her handbags, shoes, clothes and accessories! So I decided to make her this Channel handbag.

It was basically a round cake cut in half and turned on its side. Super easy to make but very effective! And the best bit is that she loved it! Happy Belated Birthday, Tracey! X
